Mapping Civil Resistance in Modern and Contemporary Iran – Ramin Jahanbeglou
Throughout modern and contemporary Iranian history, nonviolent civil resistance has taken place in various forms, initiated by different social actors such as women, youth, and intellectuals. However, it remains a challenge to understand how this civil resistance has been successful while remaining nonviolent. This talk aims to investigate the causes, course, and consequences of nonviolent civil resistance in Iran over the past 130 years. The event will take place at the International Institute of Social History, located at Cruquiusweg 31, 1019 AT Amsterdam, on Friday, March 1st, 2024.
