Islam and Competing Nationalisms in the Middle East, 1876-1926

Opposing a binary perspective that consolidates ethnicity, religion, and nationalism into separate spheres, this book demonstrates that neither nationalism nor religion can be studied in isolation in the Middle East. Religious interpretation, like other systems of meaning-production, is affected by its historical and political contexts, and the processes of interpretation and religious translation bleed into the institutional discourses and processes of nation-building.

A History of Marxist Psychology – The Golden Age of Soviet Science

The mistake of introspective psychology was not in its desire to establish self-awareness as an object of psychological investigation, but in how to interpret self-awareness and the human psyche. The mistake of behaviorism was not that its goal was to explore people in their activity, but first of all, it was in the way of interpreting such activity. And the confusion of the psychology of the soul is not to understand the essence of consciousness through its relationship with culture, with ideology, but in how to interpret this relationship… The only way is to fundamentally revise the interpretation of both concepts of consciousness and human activity, which are inseparable. It is linked with a new interpretation of their interrelationships. Only the revision of such a foundation can lead to the correct revelation of the object of psychology.
