Economics from the Perspective of the Forgotten: Feminism, Development, and Postcolonial Critique

Postcolonial Critique

This text is the result of a conversation between Mohammad Reza Moeini and Sadia Mehboob (Lecturer of Political Economy) at Iran Academia University, which dissects the concepts of “feminist economics”, “post-development” approaches, and postcolonial critique. Mehboob, using post-colonial critique, challenges the assumptions of mainstream economics and emphasizes the necessity of making women’s work visible in the Global South and returning to indigenous and environmental values. By examining the views of thinkers such as Vandana Shiva and Karl Polanyi, this conversation presents the reader with alternative horizons such as “Buen Vivir” beyond the logic of capitalist profit.
