ISSH Announces Third International Conference on Contemporary Iranian Studies (ICCI 2024) at Goethe University, Frankfurt

Frankfurt, Germany – The Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities (ISSH), also known as Iran Academia, is proud to announce the Third International Conference on Contemporary Iranian Studies (ICCI 2024). The conference will be held at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, on August 22-23, 2024.

ICCI 2024 will bring together ISSH’s faculty members and other senior Iranian and international researchers and scholars, with approximately 150 distinguished speakers, including renowned international experts, to discuss critical issues concerning Iran and the broader region. This bilingual conference will feature more than 50 panels, five plenary sessions, and parallel historical collections, books, and art exhibitions across six conference halls and two exhibition halls in the main building of the Westend Campus of Goethe University.

ICCI 2024 will cover various topics, including sociology, political economy, political philosophy, media, international relations, minorities, pedagogy, musicology, arts, law, AI, and many more.

The event will be inaugurated by the former Mayor of Frankfurt, Dr. Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg, setting the stage for gathering distinguished scholars and experts in the field. The keynote speakers for ICCI 2024 include Professor Karima Bennoune, the Lewis M. Simes Professor of Law at the University of Michigan, renowned for her research and advocacy in human rights, international law, cultural rights, and women’s rights, and Professor Christoph Menke, Professor for Practical Philosophy at Goethe University, Frankfurt, whose research spans political and legal philosophy, theories of subjectivity, ethics, and aesthetics.

Special Events:

In addition to the regular conference sessions, a special night ceremony is planned. The ceremony will be dedicated to updating on new initiatives and outlining our future innovative roadmap including exciting announcements about the ISSH Endowment program and the launch of our research and innovation center.
