The Iranian Oral History Archive System, managed by the Research and Innovation Center of the University of Iran Academia, is a platform for recording and documenting diverse oral history projects. The center hosts valuable projects in the fields of social sciences and humanities with the aim of strengthening interdisciplinary collaborations between researchers and institutions.
The first project of this platform is the “Oral History of Iranian Human Rights,” which, managed by Saeed Dehghan and in collaboration with independent consultants, has recorded exclusive conversations with researchers, activists, lawyers, journalists, and representatives of human rights organizations from three different generations.
These conversations are categorized into four collections, the first of which, called “Justice Seekers,” includes ten conversations. In addition to the online and detailed version of the conversations in the Iranian Oral History Archive System, the Iran Academia University Press has published a catalog of these conversations.
This project not only seeks to explain the history of human rights in Iran from a historical perspective, but also to examine its importance in the present and future, and to give identity to human rights concepts from the perspective of victims. Focusing on areas such as politics, civil society, the judicial system, and minority rights, this project seeks to develop human rights and strengthen the advocacy movement in Iran, and through public platforms such as Clubhouse, deliver historical and analytical narratives accessible to everyone.
In line with its general approach to providing free and open access to resources and knowledge for researchers and interested parties, Iran Academia has voluntarily undertaken to organize the interactive online version of this collection and publish its catalog, hoping to contribute to the accessibility of these discussions to the general audience.
