Lavinia Stan is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at St. Francis Xavier University, Canada. A comparative politics specialist, Stan is the author of fifteen books and dozens of peer-reviewed articles on post-communist democratization, religion and politics, as well as transitional justice. She is the co-editor of Encyclopedia of Transitional Justice, published with Cambridge University Press in 2013 (first edition) and 2023 (second edition). Considered the premier reference title in the field, the Encyclopedia includes close to 400 entries signed by more than 280 contributors from across the world. Stan is the recipient of numerous grants, and several awards and distinctions.
