Monireh Baradaran was born in 1954 in Tabriz. She went to school in Tehran and graduated with a degree in Sociology from the University of Tehran. She continued her studies at the University of Hanover in Germany. She was in Evin Prison during the mass execution of ideological-political prisoners in Iran in the summer of 1988.
