What sets developed societies apart from underdeveloped ones is not the presence of skyscrapers and cars, but the differences in their cultures. In underdeveloped societies like Iran, social interaction is typically oral and fluid. Conversely, in developed societies, social interaction is predominantly written.
In this book, we explore the impact of oral culture in Iran, highlighting how the absence of a cohesive written culture has adversely affected numerous aspects of social life. Societies lacking a robust written culture are unable to systematically accumulate and utilize the knowledge and information they acquire over time and across different locations. Oral cultures are incapable of building great civilizations, as speech alone cannot transcend the limitations of space and time.
