In this work, we explore the theoretical foundations of four intellectual and political movements and their subdivisions within Iran’s political landscape. Some of these movements have played influential roles and held power, while others, positioned outside the country’s borders, are awaiting a suitable opportunity to make their mark.
A unifying theoretical source for these movements is the teachings of Seyed Javad Tabatabai, which serve as a common thread among them.
The author asserts that our country has overlooked the crucial issue of “development” over the past few decades and can no longer afford to venture into uncharted territories. He emphasizes the need for us to work towards getting our country back on the path of development, aiming toward a liberal-democratic order and progressing in that direction.
In this context, this book is an attempt to achieve that objective: to identify the dead-ends and blind alleys that lead to new Nowheres and to compare them with global experiences that have successfully guided nations toward “development.”
In honor of Professor Yadollah Movaghen many years of academic contributions and the challenges he has faced, the author dedicates this book to him.
