Perspectives in Cultural-Historical Research
Vygotsky’s current reputation is based on the republishing of a collection of his articles, books, and manuscripts. It is known that his family archive contained many other texts, including ideas for research, discussions of the work of other researchers, excerpts from books, drafts of lectures, articles, and books, etc. However, so far, few of these archival materials have been published. The present volume is the first to be devoted to a large number of these previously unpublished writings.
These writings cover a long period, from 1912 to 1934, and if published in full, would fill a considerable number of pages. Although a large number of notes may have been lost (due to inconsistent representation over the years), over 500 still survive. Some are very short, and others are illegible or have not withstood the test of time. For this edition, we have selected those that seem most interesting from a private and scholarly perspective.
