Sejal Parmar is a human rights scholar and practitioner whose expertise and research interests lie broadly in international human rights law, with a particular focus on issues concerning freedom of expression. She is currently a Lecturer at the School of Law at the University of Sheffield and ESRC Academic Policy Fellow in Disinformation and International Relations at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office. Sejal is also Director of the Human Rights Forum and a fellow at the Centre for Freedom of the Media at the University of Sheffield. She is also a Visiting Professor at the Central European University in Vienna, where she was previously a tenured Assistant Professor. She previously worked as Senior Adviser to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Representative on Freedom of the Media and as Senior Legal Officer at ARTICLE 19. She regularly acts as an independent expert and consultant for intergovernmental, non-governmental, and private sector organizations.
