About the guest
Dr. Saeed Rahnema worked and taught in the Industrial Management Organization before Iran’s 1979 revolution, and published several books including “Multinational Companies and Underdeveloped Countries”, “Theories of Dependence and Dependent Industrialization”, “The World from Systems’ Point of View”, “Poulantzas: The State, Fascism, and Class”, and published texts about the world view of scientific philosophy.
During Iran’s 1979 revolution, he was one of the founders of the National Union of Councils of Workers and Employees of the Organization of Development and Modernization of Iranian Industries, consisting of more than a hundred industrial units, and a member of the executive board of this union of councils.
A few years after the 1979 revolution, Dr. Rahnema immigrated to Canada where he was a professor of political science and former dean of the School of Policy and Public Administration at York University. He published several books in Persian and English, including:

- The Revival of Social Democracy in Iran
- Marx’s Methodology
- Transition from Capitalism: Marxist Perspectives
- Rereading the Revolutions of the 20th Century
- Rereading the Experiences of Socialist Reformism
Dr. Rahnema’s articles have been published in English in reputable socialist periodicals such as the Monthly Review, Socialist Register, Socialism and Democracy, New Politics, and International Labor History. Some of his writings are translated in French, Russian, Chinese, Italian, and Arabic.
