Abstract:
This article explores the influence of intuition and rationality on Iranian culture and society, examining how these concepts interact with the forces of modernity. Intuition, understood as an immediate and subconscious comprehension, plays a pivotal role, particularly in Persian poetry, where it contributes to the art form’s development and enduring legacy. Conversely, rationality, which emphasizes critical and logical thinking, is presented as one of the core principles of modernity. It has been instrumental in the establishment of bureaucratic institutions, the process of secularization, and advancements in science. The tension between intuition and rationality poses a significant challenge to the full embrace of modernity in Iran. To foster progress and facilitate the development of modernity, it is essential to strike a balance between these two approaches, employing them together as complementary forces. The article also introduces a straightforward mathematical model designed to analyze this tension, illustrating its potential impact on cultural and social outcomes. Furthermore, the article offers suggestions for future research and practical strategies to enhance the synergy between intuition and rationality.
