In this in-depth conversation, we will discuss the trajectory of the scholarship of Professor Bayat which has involved three areas: 1) Social movements and social change; 2) Religion and public life; and 3) Urban life and Politics. The topics of our conversation will include social movements, religion and politics, Islamism and post-Islamism in the contemporary Middle East, especially Iran and Egypt.
