Abstract:
This article investigates the rise of the Kurdish ethno-nationalist movement of 1324-1325 (1945-1946) which, with the support of the occupying Soviet army in Iran during the final years of the Second World War, led to the creation of the “Kurdish Republic” and was dismantled shortly thereafter by Reza Shah Pahlavi upon the withdrawal of the Soviet forces.
