Why can’t the Islamic Emirate of the Taliban be recognized internationally?
The reappearance of the Taliban in Afghanistan has caused serious concerns about their government. In 1990s, the Taliban emerged from the religious schools in southwestern Afghanistan and quickly expanded their influence in Herat province.
The biggest problem with the Taliban government was their insistence and adherence to Islamic Sharia as they inherited from Deobandi religious schools. This major issue, which can even be a problem for the whole world, led them to absolute barbarism.
According to the two principles of international law, it is not possible to recognize the Islamic Emirate in any way. The first principle includes the conventional criteria for identifying the country and government in international law. The second principle refers to the obligations of countries to accept criteria that are necessary for international peace and security. Without having a clear will to accept and implement these criteria, no country or new political system can be a member.
