Chapter Five (Part One)

Author: Mehrdad Vahabi

Translation: Yeprem Khan Hairig

First Publication: Spring 2024

This article is a translation of the first six segments of the fifth chapter of Mehrdad Wahhabi’s book entitled “Anfal and Islamic Economics”, which was published in English in 2023, and its reference source is as follows:

Vahabi, Mehrdad, 2023, Destructive Coordination, Anfal and Islamic Political Capitalism: A New Reading of Contemporary Iran, Palgrave Macmillan.

The complete translation of this chapter, which includes pages 145-193 of the English text, will be published in Persian in two parts. The first part consists of segment one to six of the fifth chapter covering pages 145 to 170, and the second part will be from the seventh segment to the end and reference sources (pages 170-193), which is also about 25 pages. The first part is dedicated to the theory of Anfal in Islam, and the second part will be dedicated to the issue of Anfal in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic and its neglect among economists and social science researchers in Iran and the world.

The first part is now at your disposal and consists of the first six parts of the fifth chapter.

Naturally, some concepts presented in this section have been explained in the previous chapters of the book. For example, the concept of “destructive coordination” are described and explained in detail in the second and third chapters, and the concept of “political capitalism” in the fourth chapter. Those who are interested can refer to those chapters and we hope that in the future, the problem of following the concepts in different chapters will be resolved by translating the entire book into Farsi.

In the following, firstly, will be the title of the fifth chapter, and the list of its ten parts. Subsequently, you will see the translation of the first six parts. Of course, this is the first part of the translation of the fifth chapter.
